TASNEEMA ZAIDI

Tasneema, a former member of CWC Delhi, strongly believes that the prevention of child abuse is the best way forward.

She has been working for child rights for more than 25 years. She has worked on all aspects of child development including the Right to Education, Right to Protection, and juvenile justice. In addition, she has supported trauma response for children in crisis and their rehabilitation.

Her focus has been on the empowerment of parents to ensure children's rights.

Tasneema conducts sessions and organizes training programs for teachers, trainees, school management, NGOs, welfare trusts, and other stakeholders with the child protection system.

DIPIKA VARKEY

1938 - 2021

Mrs Dipika Varkey, a strong promoter of sports and theater for children did her masters from Whittier College, California and Physical Training from YMCA Madras.

She participated in the national games and also was selected as a member of the Indian women's Volleyball team.

She taught at CJM College Delhi, Jyoti Niwas College  Bangalore and worked for women's rights at Sahyog, Allahabad.

It was her passion for the marginalized children's education and economic independence for women that led to the inception of Udaan. 

She would always remain a source of inspiration for the entire Udaan family.
